As they usually do when it looks like the team might be one loss away from intensive care — whether it’s being down in a playoff series or stumbling out of the gate to open a season — the Edmonton Oilers jumped out of bed, pulled out the IVs out of their arm and beat somebody for fun.

After digging their usual hole, falling behind 2-0 for the fifth time in the last eight games, the Oilers looked like they were about to be humbled in their own building by the young, fast and highly-skilled Utah Mammoth.

But, in a bounce-back effort that nobody saw coming, the Oilers rattled off five second-period goals Tuesday to snap the seven-game winning streak of the hottest team in the NHL.
