The Department for Work and Pensions is set to hand parents a bumper payment in 2026 - amid rising benefit rates INCLUDING Child Benefit. Labour Party Chancellor Rachel Reeves is expected to confirm in the Budget that all working-age benefits will go up in line with CPI inflation.

That means everything from Universal Credit to Child Benefit will increase by at least this amount. For parents, the child-specific elements within these benefits will also rise by 3.8%.

From April 2026, the standard Universal Credit allowance is due to rise by more than inflation for four years which would mean an extra 2.3% on top of the 3.8% increase.
