A Sydney court has seen confronting images from a NSW Police body-worn camera the day the Russian consulate in Sydney's east was rammed.

Rimi Abraham, originally from Victoria, was convicted and sentenced to eight months in jail with a non-parole period of four months, along with several community correction orders in Newtown Local Court on Wednesday.

The court heard how the 40-year-old rammed a car through the front gates of the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Woollahra last month causing "significant damage" and injuring two police officers.

Abraham has been in custody since the incident and pleaded guilty while in remand.
