Halloween is upon us, so — with apologies to Mr. Shakespeare — “By the pricking of my thumbs, something wickedly delicious this way comes.”

When it comes to horror films, I lean more toward the psychological and/or supernatural subgenre than the gore and/or sadistic side. And speaking of psychological/supernatural, “Rosemary’s Baby” is my favorite movie and arguably the best and most psychologically rich horror film ever made.

The terror in this 1968 masterpiece, directed by Roman Polanski, simmers on a bunch of different burners.
