Gordon Morrison has spent decades trying to understand the underground rocky world beneath northern Ontario's largest city.
The 77-year-old Sudbury geologist is credited with discovering 17 mineral deposits, nine of which became mines ,and was recently inducted into the Canadian Mining Hall of Fame.
But he says he's still trying to figure itall out.
"I accidentally find mines by looking for what I haven't found yet," Morrison said.
"We let the rocks guide us, but in terms of understanding exactly how did Mother Nature create these things, I still don't know."
From what he does know, Morrison is confident that there are a lot more minerals to be found in the Sudbury basin, even after more than a century of mining.
