An Ontario government review of the Near North District School Board points to “dysfunction” and “fractured relationships” that led to delays in the opening of a new school in Parry Sound.
The education minister has now ordered the board, based in North Bay, to take 15 actions in the next few weeks to “restore effective governance and rebuild trust.”
"The report confirms deep-rooted dysfunction within the Near North District School Board that has eroded public confidence,” Minister Paul Calandra said in a statement.
"I expect the board to act immediately, without delay or excuse, to correct these failures and put students first. If they do not, I will not hesitate to take further action to ensure accountability and restore stability."
