Last week was a busy one for Heritage Restaurant Group. They announced plans to acquire Newport's Scales & Shells, which has occupied a spot on Thames Street for 37 years. Less than 24 hours later, they added Providence's oldest brewpub, Union Station Brewery, and Providence Coal-Fired Pizza's locations in Providence and North Kingstown to the list.
Earlier this year, the Newport-based group led by Nicholas Schorsch, made the first move into Providence with the purchase of the James Beard-honored America's Classics Olneyville New York System restaurants and the purchase of Federal Hill's Joe Marzilli's Old Canteen for Wally's Wieners and the Copper Club.
