LIHUE — The Kauai Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying human remains discovered earlier this year.
On April 9, partial human remains were found along the shoreline of Aliomanu Beach. Because of the advanced state of decomposition, consistent with prolonged exposure to the ocean environment, forensic laboratory testing and DNA analysis required additional time to complete.
These analyses confirmed the remains are those of a male and generated a DNA profile, which can be used to compare with missing persons reports or family reference samples to help identify the individual.
