NEW YORK (PIX11) – Heavy rain and gusty winds are expected in New York and New Jersey this week as a storm system approaches the tri-state area, according to the National Weather Service.
Forecasters warn there is a risk of flash flooding. Here’s everything you need to know about the incoming storm:

Scattered drizzle and rain showers are expected on Wednesday afternoon. By Thursday, heavy rainfall and gusty winds between 30 to 40 mph will hit the tri-state area.
That storm is expected to stay over New York and New Jersey through Thursday night. Wind gusts are also possible on Friday, according to the NWS.
Rain totals
Some parts of the tri-state area could get between 1 to 2 inches of rain. New York City is expected to get over 1.5 inches, according to PIX11 meteorologists.
