Those warty pumpkins that are popping up all over town aren’t infected — many of them are genetically engineered to be that way.

Before that, pumpkins were engineered to be smooth, according to the folks over at Gardening Know How, so it’s more like the gourds are going natural. Warty pumpkins come with great names, the site says, like Knuckle Head, Gargoyle and Goosebumps.

Anyway, they’re a great starting point if you’re planning a Freddy Krueger or Leatherface-themed jack-o-lantern.
