PEORIA ( 25News Now ) - The Peoria City Council has unanimously approved a nearly $301 million budget for the next fiscal year , with a focus on improving infrastructure and paying more for employees’ pension and healthcare.

“So, this is the actual spending authority that we will then have for FY26, with the estimates built into it for FY27. We’ll come back next year with the revised budget for adoption, of 2027,” said City Manager Patrick Urich.

The city also approved the annual property tax levy, which has Peoria collecting $34.4 million in property taxes next year and keeping the tax rate unchanged compared to the previous year at $1.34 for every $100 of equalized assessed value.
