Art teachers Sharon Turner, Toni Lopez, and Laura Torres Ramirez, together with students from Burton’s Summit Collegiate High School and Summit Charter Intermediate Academy cleaned up, primered, and repainted three fire hydrants on Main Street and Cleveland, Thurman and Harrison Avenues, in collaboration with the Parks and Leisure Department.

Lopez said they had creative freedom with the project as long as they used a patriotic theme using the City approved red, white, and blue primer paints.

Along with students Bloo Phonthavanh and Peter Gonzales she worked on the Cleveland Ave. hydrant, painting it with protective undercoating, and then painting a Red, White, and Blue musical theme.
