HAL and Russia’s UAC sign deal to produce passenger aircraft

Joint production to boost India’s aviation and UDAN scheme

In a significant milestone for India’s aviation industry, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) and Russia’s United Aircraft Corporation (PJSC-UAC) have signed an agreement to jointly manufacture the SJ-100 passenger aircraft in India. This marks the first time a passenger aircraft will be produced domestically under a joint India-Russia partnership.

The agreement was signed in Moscow in the presence of HAL Chairman D. K. Sunil and PJSC-UAC Director General Vadim Badekha . As per the deal, HAL will be responsible for manufacturing the SJ-100 — a small twin-engine passenger aircraft — to meet domestic aviation needs.
