JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KFVS) - Fall is underway in the Show-Me-State, but state and national leaders are looking ahead to winter.

The Missouri State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) and National Weather Service (NWS) are gearing up for Winter Weather Preparedness Week in Missouri, which is Monday, November 3, through Friday, Nov. 7.

The week is designed to help Missourians prepare and stay safe ahead and during hazardous and sometimes dangerous winter weather events.

Each day during Winter Weather Prepareness Week will focus on a different theme:

Monday, Nov. 3 – Winter weather terminology

Tuesday, Nov. 4 – Ice safety

Wednesday, Nov. 5 – Snow safety

Thursday, Nov. 6 – Extreme cold, hypothermia and frostbite

Friday, Nov. 7 – Planning for snow, ice and cold
