A woman and her dog have died in a crash in Port Glasgow. ‌

Emergency services were called to the A8 Greenock Road in Port Glasgow after a Land Rover Sport hit a pedestrian at around 7.05am on Wednesday. ‌

Amy Gray, 42, from Port Glasgow, and her dog Reggie, were struck as they crossed the eastbound carriageway of Greenock Road. ‌

Despite efforts from mercy crews, they both died at the scene.

Their family is aware.

The driver of the Land Rover was not injured. ‌

Greenock Road was closed for around five hours to allow for investigations to take place.

A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

Sergeant Patrick McWilliams, Police Scotland Road Policing, said: "We have specialist officers with Mrs Gray's family at this extremely difficult time. ‌
