WESTON, W.Va. — A Washington, D.C. resident was arrested in Lewis County for driving a vehicle reported stolen out of Virginia, according to law enforcement.

Shamika Dyer, 36, was arrested in Lewis County on Oct. 26 and charged with driving under the influence (DUI) and being in possession of a stolen vehicle, according to a criminal complaint.

The incident occurred at approximately 10:13 p.m. as an officer was investigating an intoxicated driver 911 call and performing a DUI arrest on Dyer, the complaint said.

Initial information about the vehicle’s registration was incorrect due to a "miscommunication between officers on scene and Lewis/Gilmer 911 dispatch," the complaint said. Upon later review, the officer learned via Lewis/Gilmer 911 dispatch that the registration displayed on the
