COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser announced Wednesday plans to sue the Trump Administration in an effort to keep the U.S. Space Command in Colorado Springs.
The lawsuit comes one month after President Donald Trump announced U.S. Space Command would be moved to Huntsville, Alabama . In his initial announcement on Sept. 2, Trump said Colorado’s mail-in voting system was a “big factor” in his decision to move the facility.
Weiser, who is running for governor in 2026 , said Trump was “punishing” Colorado for the state’s vote-by-mail system.
Weiser’s office called the move unconstitutional, claiming it violates federal law requiring public notices and reports to Congress before moving a major military headquarter’s location.
