The Bay Area will be the center of the sports world next year, with the Super Bowl in February, NCAA basketball tournament games in March and FIFA World Cup matches in June.
Those international events draw people from across the country and the world, including potential human traffickers. It’s a troubling reality in all of our communities that such bad actors are looking to exploit vulnerable people for money.
On Wednesday, leaders from law enforcement, district attorneys offices, advocacy groups and transit agencies from around the Bay Area gathered for a daylong conference to make sure those human traffickers can be identified and trafficking victims are brought to safety.
