The warning will be in place from 1pm until 11pm on Thursday and covers all six counties - with winds of up to 70mph possible.
The Met Office has warned of possible disruption including travel delays and power outages, as well as large waves affecting coastal areas.
The weather warning has lead to a number of events across the country being cancelled or rescheduled.
In Northern Ireland’s Halloween capital, Derry city, the Awakening the Walled City Trail on Thursday has been cancelled.
In the People’s Park in Ballymena, the Halloweena event has been cancelled, along with Dungannon’s Halloween event at the Market Square. Both were due to run on Thursday.
The Bat Walk in the Diamond Jubilee Wood in Whitehead on Thursday has been cancelled too.
