BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (WFSB) - Emergency crews responded to a fire in Bridgeport on Tuesday afternoon.

At around 4:30 p.m. firefighters were called to the area of Main Street after a report of a structure fire, officials said.

When crews arrived, they found a fire coming from the second floor of the building.

Two people suffered non-life-threatening injuries and they were transported to a nearby hospital.

Officials said all residents from the apartment building were displaced but eight families required assistance from the Red Cross.

The total number of residents is unknown.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

No further details were released.
