Mayoral candidate Michael McGuinness
A community activist filed an emergency motion Tuesday in Oakland County Circuit Court to unseal a 2010 election fraud case involving Pontiac mayoral candidate Michael McGuinness to help determine if he's eligible to run for public office under state law. McGuinness is currently president of the Pontiac City Council.
The motion, which comes less than a week before the Tuesday, Nov. 4 election, has been filed by activist Marcus Kelly. State law prohibits someone from running for state or local office for 20 years after a felony conviction involving dishonesty, deceit, fraud, or breach of public trust while the person holds elected office or has a government position.
