It didn’t help back in March that Jewish groups, including the prominent Anti-Defamation League, strongly opposed Hamtramck Mayor Amer Ghalib’s nomination as ambassador to Kuwait and urged President Trump to withdraw it.

Now, Politico reports that at least three Republicans on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee will oppose advancing Ghalib’s nomination, which is likely to sink hopes of even getting a vote out of committee for consideration by the full Senate.

“I was a ‘no’ even before the hearing,” Sen. John Curtis (R-Utah) told Politico on Monday.
