A private Chicago investment firm announced Wednesday that it has purchased the HopCat restaurant chain in Michigan.
Uncommon Equity LLC said in a press release that it acquired BarFly LLC, which operates 11 HopCat restaurants in the state, as well as Stella’s Lounge in downtown Grand Rapids. The acquisition also includes a HopCat restaurant in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Financial terms of the sale were not disclosed.
HopCat, founded in 2008, has locations in Michigan including Detroit, Royal Oak, Southgate, Ann Arbor, and East Lansing. The casual dining restaurant also sells craft brews.
The company created controversy by naming its beer-battered French fries “Crack Fries.”
