JEFFERSONVILLE, Indiana — A Jeffersonville child is recovering after being hit by a car Wednesday morning.

In a social media post, the Jeffersonville Police Department said the incident happened the intersection of East 10th Street and Thompson Lane, which is near Jeffersonville High School, just before 7:30 a.m.

The child was transported to a local hospital to be evaluated, police said. Their current condition is unknown.

Jeffersonville Police said traffic near the area was briefly congested as police were on scene. The roadway has since cleared.
