SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (NEWS10) - On Election Day, Saratoga Springs Mayor John Safford will be trying to keep the office under republican control. That hasn't happened much in the past 25 years.

Since 1999, the mayor's office in the Spa City has switched political parties six times. The last time was 2 years ago, when Safford knocked off democrat Ron Kim. The incumbent is running against democrat Michele Madigan.

Safford says two of his biggest issues are affordable housing and the homeless. He supported the city's "No Camping Law" and believes it is working.
