Premier Doug Ford has denounced the U.S. ambassador to Canada for profanely attacking Ontario’s representative to Washington at a reception.

“Absolutely unacceptable. It’s unbecoming of an ambassador,” Ford said Wednesday of the diplomatic incident.

It was the latest display of tensions in the Canada-U.S. relationship, as Prime Minister Mark Carney and U.S. President Donald Trump sat down across a dinner table in Korea Wednesday evening and appeared to exchange only pleasantries in passing, raising a glass with the other six Asia-Pacific leaders present.

Carney said little after the dinner, telling Global News reporter Mackenzie Gray that it was “very good, I had very good conversation with all the presidents.”
