COLUMBIA — The Ride Home program has been operational for almost a month, and so far, one person has used it.
First/Last Mile Valet Service partnered with the city of Columbia to launch the program in early October to help low-income people receive rides home after traveling to Columbia. It offers one-way transportation for eligible riders.
Since the launch, the program has provided one ride, according to the Columbia/Boone County Public Health and Human Services.
Program organizers said that while early numbers are small, they expected a slow start.
"I would say our biggest challenge is getting the word out to our unhoused population," said Austin Krohn, a spokesperson for the Health Department. 2:23
