INDEPENDENCE, Kan. (KAKE) — The Kansas Highway Patrol says an off-duty trooper stopped an alleged drunk driver during a traffic stop last week in Independence.

Troop H of the Kansas Highway Patrol says off-duty Master Trooper Bales reported a possible drunk driver last Friday night near the area of 10th and Laurel. The KHP says that while Master Trooper Bales was observing the car, he heard a possible gunshot and pulled in behind the vehicle.
