WEBB COUNTY, Tex. (KGNS) - A boil water notice remains in place for Rio Bravo and El Cenizo as Webb County officials work to resolve water quality issues that prompted the precautionary measure.

The notice was first announced on Wednesday, October 29, at around 7 p.m. after findings of a chemical inside the water, according to county officials.

Officials say they hope the notice will be lifted by Friday, October 31, if the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) allows it.

“As per TCEQ, today, Wednesday, we are flushing all the lines. Tomorrow, Thursday, we are sampling the water in different places. Then, by Friday, they will let us know if we can lift the boil water notice,” said Jesse Gonzalez, Webb County commissioner for Precinct 1.
