WASHINGTON — DC’s Ward 8 Councilmember Trayon White says he “will hold hearings” to determine what caused a sewage backup at Anacostia High School that forced students to go home early Monday.
"In the coming weeks, I will hold hearings to find out what caused this incident to ensure residents and property owners are properly compensated. Our office will stay involved until this issue is fully resolved,” White said.
According to a letter school officials sent to parents and guardians, DC Water began work in the Anacostia and Fairlawn neighborhoods over the weekend as part of the Capital Improvement Program water main replacement project.
While work was underway, water and sewage backed up into the high school, mainly impacting the kitchen and cafeteria. Officials opted to send students
