LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — A new statewide pilot aims to raise student achievement by changing how Arkansas schools approach tutoring and how success is measured.
Forward Arkansas has launched an initiative focused on high-impact tutoring in five school districts: Little Rock, eStem Public Charter Schools, Arkadelphia, Hamburg and Texarkana. The program connects classroom learning to measurable results through what’s known as outcomes-based contracting, meaning schools and tutoring providers are paid based on student performance.
“So it ensures that the educational investments we make are tied directly to student outcomes and student success,” said Courtney Lincoln, vice president of impact at Forward Arkansas.
