MINOT, ND (KXNET) — The trial is underway for Jaeger Lundeen, who is accused of assaulting a woman at a North Dakota State Fair concert in 2024. Opening statements were given Wednesday afternoon.

Investigators say the alleged assault happened in the Grandstand during the Lil’ Wayne concert.

Jury selection was completed today, with nine men and five women chosen. Twelve jurors will deliberate, while two will serve as alternates.

During opening statements, Lundeen’s attorney told the jury, Lundeen thought the victim was a man because it was dark, chaotic, and her hair was tangled from the fight she was in, and Lundeen decided to intervene.

The first witness was also called to the stand Wednesday.
