SALEM, Ore. - Millions of Americans are facing the prospect of higher healthcare costs as the expiration of enhanced federal subsidies looms. Without congressional renewal, Affordable Care Act (ACA) exchange coverage may increase by up to 30 percent next year, with some Oregonians potentially seeing premiums more than double.
Dr. Jade Cobern from the ABC News Medical Unit said "in the United States, our system is designed for profit…It is a huge problem in our healthcare system."
Oregon Senator Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) is advocating for legislation to improve Medicaid and ACA coverage, along with tackling fraud and waste in the system.
