PORTLAND, Ore. — The Portland neighborhood of Alameda is asked to keep a lookout for coyotes after a coyote grabbed and chased a child playing outside last Thursday. That child was hospitalized.

On Oct. 23 at 6:15 p.m., two children, ages 9 and 3, were playing hide-and-seek in their yard when a coyote approached the 9-year-old child and bit their foot. The child was able to shake their foot out of their sock and run away, with the coyote chasing after them, until the child's father on the front porch started yelling, causing the coyote run away.

The child was taken to a hospital for minor injuries, according to the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife (ODFW).
