CLEVELAND — That time of year has finally arrived — when the Friday Night Lights get just a little brighter!

The Ohio high school football playoffs are back, and 104 teams from WKYC's 17-county viewing area were competing for state championships across seven different divisions. There are some key changes to the format this year that you should be aware of:

The number of playoff teams in each region (four per division) has been reduced from 16 to 12. Because of this, the top four seeds in each region will now receive a bye to the second round.

All games during the first three rounds will be played at the better seed's home stadium, while the regional finals and state semifinals will be played at neutral sites followed by the state championships in Canton. Previously, only the first tw
