Five city council seats are on the ballot for Election Day on Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2025. As part of KOAT's commitment to voters, we are highlighting candidates from all five districts one week before Election Day.

On Monday, Oct. 20, 2025, KOAT's Faith Egbuonu spoke with District 5 candidates, incumbent Albuquerque City Councilor Dan Lewis, 55, and challenger Athenea Allen, 46. Both candidates tackled key issues impacting District 5, which include infrastructure, public safety, crime, and homelessness.
