The Indian cricket team’s ODI vice captain Shreyas Iyer has provided an update on his health after he was admitted to a Sydney hospital for a laceration of the spleen with internal bleeding. “I’m currently in recovery process and getting better, every passing day. I’m deeply grateful to see all the kind wishes and support I’ve received- it truly means a lot. Thank you for keeping me in your thoughts,” Iyer posted on his social media handles on Thursday.

Iyer had injured himself when he claimed a catch to dismiss Australian batsman Alex Carey in the third ODI against Australia on Saturday. The incident happened when Iyer ran back from point and, after taking the catch, hurt his rib while tumbling down to the ground.
