SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — Food insecurity is an issue all across Siouxland, and a local non-profit aims to make a difference. The Siouxland Soup Kitchen was founded back in 1987 with a simple mission: to feed anyone who is hungry.

The Siouxland Soup Kitchen serves over 3,000 meals each month, and director Lyn Kluender said their services have been in high demand this year.

"July was our busiest month ever, but it didn't stop in July," Kluender said. "It continued in August and now September was our biggest month, so it has not slowed down."

Kluender said that with an uptick in numbers also comes a changing demographic.
