A controversy has erupted at Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU) in Rohtak after women sanitation workers alleged that their supervisors asked them to send photos to "verify" their menstrual period instead of granting leave.
The incident occurred last Sunday, when Haryana Governor Professor Ashim Kumar Ghosh visited the university. All sanitation workers, including women, had been called in for duty even though Sunday was their weekly off.
According to the complainants, three women sanitation workers informed their supervisor that they were menstruating and requested leave.
