BAXTER — The highly anticipated opening of the Kwik Trip store in Baxter has arrived.

The store and gas station opened at 5 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 30.

The multi-million dollar store development is at the corner of Novotny Road and Edgewood Drive in Baxter, just off Highway 371. Since the first store was announced in the lakes area in 2024, officials acknowledged the plan is typically to add several stores in the area.

“With the amount of traffic in Baxter, Brainerd, Nisswa area we're excited to get to the area and serve the people who live there and the people of the surrounding lakes area,” Brent Dusek, Kwik Trip project manager, said in a phone interview when the store was going through the permitting process in Baxter in 2024. “I think we'll be successful there ….
