A project backed by North and South Lanarkshire Councils is underway to support children affected by the conflict in Ukraine.
A dedicated team from UNISON North Lanarkshire is coordinating the transportation of surplus specialist children’s gym equipment from the Aquatec facility in Motherwell to the Aquarena Sport Complex in Kharkiv, Ukraine.
The volunteer-driven transport route is approximately 1,500 miles from Motherwell to Poland, and a further 850 miles onwards into Ukraine.
North Lanarkshire Provost Kenneth Duffy said: “The people of Lanarkshire are continuing to showing incredible solidarity with communities in Ukraine.
