ANN ARBOR — The Wolverines insisted this week their focus is on Purdue. That they needed to make that clear says a lot about the state of Purdue football.

The Boilermakers (2-6, 0-5) are on a 14-game Big Ten losing streak, with their last win coming Nov. 25, 2023 against an Indiana team about to fire its coach. They beat Ball State and Southern Illinois (an FCS program) to start this season before dropping their next six: five Big Ten games and Notre Dame.

They have been better lately. Earlier this month, Purdue led Minnesota 20-13 in the fourth quarter before losing 27-20. The Boilermakers allowed two field goals in the final 66 seconds, including one as time expired, to lose 27-24 to Rutgers last week.
