FOREST CITY, Iowa — The Forest City School District announced the cancellation of the high school portion of the Band Extravaganza originally set for Thursday evening.
This decision follows the success of the Forest City Cross Country teams qualifying for the state meet in Fort Dodge on Friday.
The Middle School Band Extravaganza will proceed as planned at the Boman Fine Arts Center from 6:15 to 8:15 p.m. Admission is free, and the event will feature performances from 6th, 7th, and 8th-grade bands.
The school district highlighted a significant overlap between students in band and cross country, stating:
"We believe our athletes have earned the right to focus on preparing for their state competition. Unfortunately, this overlap also creates an imbalance in the remaining ensemble instrum
