MONCKS CORNER, S.C. (WBTV) - A man and woman were arrested after their child overdosed, Berkeley County Sheriff Duane Lewis announced.

Bryan Edward Connolly, 41, and Ashley Marie Romashko, 35, were arrested on Oct. 26. Deputies said they were called out to a home in Moncks Corner, South Carolina, for the couple’s two-year-old.

The pair allegedly refused to let EMS take the toddler to the hospital. After a second response, EMS called in help from the sheriff’s office, deputies said.

When deputies got to the home, the child was unconscious. Medical professionals determined the toddler had overdosed, but deputies did not confirm what the toddler had ingested.

The other children inside the home were taken into emergency protective custody.
