CLEVELAND — It’s Drought Monitor Day!

This week’s update has some big changes in the right direction. Moderate Drought is now gone for Eastern Cuyahoga, Lake, Northern Geauga and Ashtabula Counties.

Even better, any drought concerns are totally gone for portions of most of Lake, Northern Geauga, and Western Ashtabula Counties. There was also improvement for Southern and Central Ohio, where even the area of “abnormally dry” is retreating.

Much of this change is thanks to rain that fell last week, especially for the lake effect areas east of Cleveland. Hopkins recorded rain Tuesday through Friday, totaling about .57” that would have gone into this update. Further inland, the Akron-Canton airport only measured .28" for the same peri
