BUFFALO, N.Y. — A Buffalo man accused of causing the death of a mother and her four-day old infant before setting fire to their home has been arraigned in court.
Kidane Haile, 30, is charged with Murder in the First Degree, two counts of Murder in the Second Degree, and Arson in the Third Degree.
"The incident started with the response, about the Buffalo Police Department, Buffalo Fire Department, to a 911 call regarding a smoke alarm and a fire at 428 Norwood," said Erie County District Attorney Michael Keane. "The evidence is going to establish that the defendant intentionally started the fire with gasoline and that the allegations include that he murdered Katie Carrig by strangulation prior to him starting the fire," he said.
