The City of Montgomery has released a list of places to find food due to the ending of federal SNAP benefits due to the ongoing government shutdown.

The Alabama Department of Human Resources announced earlier this week that federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program SNAP) funding would be ending as of Saturday, November 1.

That’s why the city is sharing information to help residents connect with local organizations offering free food and essential support.

“We want to make sure residents know where to turn for help,” Mayor Steven Reed said. “Our goal is to get this information into the hands of those who need it most.”
