District 2 Assembly member Ryan Tunseth was elected president of the Kenai Peninsula Borough Assembly during Tuesday night’s meeting, following a nomination by Dale Eicher, who represents District 5 (Sterling/Funny River). With no other nominations, Tunseth was selected by unanimous consent to lead the assembly through the upcoming year.

The election comes at a time of major turnover for the borough’s governing body — five of the nine assembly seats changed hands this month following the municipal election. Tunseth is one of four returning members and will preside over a body that includes five newly sworn-in assembly members, who officially took their seats on October 14.
