An International Committee of the Red Cross team in the Gaza Strip on Thursday afternoon received two coffins, believed to contain remains of slain Israeli hostages, from Hamas, the Israel Defense Forces said.
“According to the information provided by the Red Cross, two coffins of deceased hostages were transferred into its custody, and are on their way to the IDF inside the Strip,” the military stated.
“Hamas is required to uphold the agreement and take the necessary steps to return all the deceased hostages,” the IDF statement added.
In a previous statement, the IDF had requested that the public “act with sensitivity and wait for the official identification, which will first be provided to the families.”
