The Salvation Army of Greater Chattanooga has launched an emergency food campaign to meet the “dramatic rise” of local requests for food assistance.

Salvation Army officials said the “ Feed Hope. Share Love. ” campaign has been started to meet the needs of the community as the number of requests has been three to five times higher than usual levels in recent weeks.

As many Tennessee citizens prepare for food stamp funds to run out in November, several organizations are also preparing to provide assistance.

The Salvation Army said the best ways to help are through donations of either money or non-perishable food items.
